Intervista a  Theresa Melville

Anche noi in Italia abbiamo una ristretta cerchia di scrittrici che si dedicano al romance , un romance differente , nel quale situazioni, profumi, colori fanno già parte della nostra vita e ci danno un senso di complicità, di conoscenza più intima .
Alcune di loro scrivono sull'Italia , incantano con le descrizioni dei luoghi famosi e ci riportano alla memoria fatti storici da punti di vista interessanti e certamente molto diversi da come ci erano stati presentati , altre invece scrivono di luoghi esotici , di paesi lontani , ma ciò che le distingue è l'accuratezza dei dettagli, una scrittura anche più ricercata in alcuni casi, profondità di sentimenti e il fatto che ci viene veramente facile comprenderle .
Insomma le nostre scrittrici sono poche ma sono brave !
Con questo post cominceremo a conoscerle ascoltando la loro "voce" di scrittrici, di lettrici, di donne e cominceremo con una delle "penne " più autorevoli del romance italiano, la brava e gentilissima Theresa Melville.

Devo dire che dialogare con Theresa Melville alias Maria Teresa Casella è stato piacevole e facile, molto gentilmente ha collaborato a questa intervista che spero troverete interessante come è stato per me.

1 Come e quando è nata la sua passione per la scrittura?
È nata con i sogni adolescenziali, insieme al desiderio di concretizzarli a modo mio, mettendoli nero su bianco. Scrivere significava, allora come adesso, dare corpo alle emozioni e viverle più intensamente con la forza dell'immaginazione.

2 Quali sono state le tappe della sua carriera letteraria?
Dopo il liceo classico mi sono diplomata in giornalismo. Ho iniziato a lavorare come cronista sportiva (calcio femminile, sports a vela). Dallo sport mi sono spostata alla moda, così sono cominciate le collaborazioni per settimanali e mensili femminili. Seguono due anni come copywriter in pubblicità e sette come capo ufficio stampa e pubbliche relazioni per la Yves Saint Laurent Italia. Tali esperienze lavorative non mi hanno mai distratto dall'obiettivo di diventare una scrittrice; hanno rafforzato il mio bagaglio umano e culturale permettendomi di capire cosa volevo fare della mia vita. Scrivere non è un mestiere che si improvvisa: la creatività necessita di stimoli e di esperienza; la capacità di dedicarsi totalmente ad una storia. Una storia che si vuole dare al pubblico, necessita di lavoro costante e disciplinato. In conclusione, all'età di trent'anni mi sono dimessa dalla Yves Saint Laurent per scrivere a tempo pieno. In quello stesso anno la Curcio ha pubblicato il mio primo Bluemoon: Giovane Cuore Ferito. Terry Domino è stato il primo pseudonimo.

3 Qual è la sua esperienza di lettrice? Cosa e quando legge, cosa ama, cosa invece non apprezza come lettrice?
Leggo molto e leggerei di più, se famiglia e lavoro non stritolassero le mie giornate. Non ho uno spazio fisso per la lettura: in casa il libro mi segue ovunque, appena posso lo apro. Leggo adagio, gustando ogni riga, rileggendo i brani che mi sono piaciuti e a volte sottolineandoli a matita. Leggo romanzi storici, di sentimento, noir e gialli. Il mio libro culto è Moby Dick (non a caso, e con molta presunzione, ho scelto Melville come pseudonimo). Amo le Bronte; considero Jane Eyre e Cime Tempestose due cardini del romanzo di sentimento. Ad essi aggiungo Defoe, con le sue Moll Flanders e Lady Roxana, e naturalmente Dickens, Hawthorne… Sono i classici irraggiungibili, i modelli di riferimento, insieme a Italo Calvino. Venendo ai giorni nostri, mi divertono Stephen King e Anne Rice, mi appassiona Caleb Carr, mi intrigano Dazieri e Lucarelli. Ora sto leggendo l'Eretico, di Altieri; è un romanzo storico a tinte forti, che grida di amore e morte con la stessa passione; mi ha fatto innamorare, mi ha rapita fin dall'incipit.
Cosa non apprezzo come lettrice? Gli scrittori che non hanno rispetto per il pubblico, quelli che liberano l'impulso creativo senza dargli una forma compiuta; alcuni di loro sono bravissimi, ma troppo pieni di sé per tenere nella giusta considerazione l'interesse di chi legge.

4 Quali sono i pregi e i difetti del romance italiano?
I pregi sono le scrittrici. I difetti sono i condizionamenti tipici del genere: personaggi e ruoli codificati, scarso realismo, buonismo e moralismo a oltranza. A mio parere, gli editori dovrebbero consentire alle scrittrici di essere più audaci, non sulla sensualità ma sulle tematiche sociali. Nei secoli scorsi, i rapporti tra i due sessi, così come le dinamiche sociali, non erano meno aspre e scabrose di adesso.


5 Qual'è il romanzo al quale è più legata ? E per quale motivo?
Charlene, la storia di una donna sola al mondo che si scopre poetessa nella Parigi del Romanticismo. Ho concepito questo romanzo con grande trasporto. Dentro c'è l'amore per la scrittura, la magia che lega persone accomunate da questa passione, il coraggio e la tenacia di chi accetta di mettere in gioco le proprie emozioni e di comunicarle agli altri.

6 Quali sono i suoi progetti per il futuro?
Continuare a scrivere, naturalmente, sperimentando nuove forme espressive e nuovi generi letterari, il noir, ad esempio.

Teresa Melville ha scritto sotto vari pseudonimi , ma lasciamo che ce lo racconti lei stessa

Cara Cris, ci credi se ti dico che, a partire da Terry Domino, non ricordo tutti i miei pseudonimi? Per Mondadori sono stata Anne Marie Schwarz, Marlene Seymour e qualche altro, ma il più importante, il più prolifico, quello a cui sono più legata, è sicuramente Theresa Melville.

Maria Teresa Casella nasce a Roma il 29 Ottobre del 1960. Consegue la Maturità classica nel 1979 e in seguito il diploma di giornalismo .
Esordisce come redattore di calcio femminile e di sport a vela. Capo Ufficio Stampa II Giro d'Italia in Wind Surf.1982/83 Copy writer presso l'agenzia di pubblicità e marketing F.P.
Collabora come revisore presso la casa editrice Omnia per la collana di romanzi rosa Polvere di Stelle. Diventa Responsabile dell'Ufficio Stampa e Pubbliche Relazioni presso la Yves SaintLaurent Italia.
Nel 1991 inizia a tempo pieno la carriera di scrittrice di romanzi rosa .
Scrive per la casa editrice Curcio, collana di romanzi rosa Blue Moon con la pubblicazione di circa 15 titoli sotto pseudonimo.
Scrive anche per la casa editrice Le Onde per la collana rosa Blue Tango con 5 titoli sotto pseudonimo.
Nel 1994 Pubblica con la casa editrice Il Ventaglio il romanzo Delfina fuor d'acqua.
Per la Mondadori Editore scrive nelle collane rosa: Doppia Vita, 900, un secolo d'amore e I Romanzi con lo pseudonimo di Theresa Melville.
Nel 2000 Unitamente alla collana I Romanzi, sempre con la Mondadori pubblica la collana di 4 romanzi Vivere, basata sulla sceneggiatura della fortunata fiction di Canale 5 Vivere.
Attualmente ha al suo attivo circa cento titoli di romanzi rosa e prosegue la sua attività con la Mondadori Editore.
E' innegabile che in questa donna ci sia una forte forza di volontà , una profonda passione per il suo lavoro di scrittrice che affiora nei suoi romanzi e nei suoi personaggi , che conservano parte di lei e della sua magia .

Sebbene la sottotrama suspence arriva molto più tardi del solito per un thriller SG-5, i fans apprezzeranno le schermaglie tra Jack e Jill mentre salgono la collina per andare a prendere il figlio di lei. The Talkirk is a post apocalyptic warlord who reign on a cairn in an unknown planet. His word is law. He has only one weak point: he likes young guys and he has twelve of them in an atipical harem inside the cairn. One time every year he chooses another guy for his pleasure.

This year, during the usual "guys fair" a man stands above the other: Lucan is a Pureblood, who descends directly from the people who arrive on the planet with a starship. Lucas is beautiful, his skin is pale, cause his people live underground, his hair are black and his eyes bright, beautiful and... blind.

But he claims to be here to help the Talkirk and to save him and his cairn. He will do anything to convince the Talkirk, also give himself to prove that. And the Talkirk accepts the offer and claims his body. But with his body, Lucan surrenders also his hearth.

This is a very interesting reading, maybe a little to short. I have read another novel by Sienna Black, Coyote Rain, and also in that case the plot was very interesting but the novel too short. I will be very happy to have the opportunity to read something more by Sienna Black, maybe a little longer?

Il Talkirk è un signore della guerra post apocalittico che regna su una fortezza in un pianeta sconosciuto. La sua parola è legge. Ha solo una debolezza: gli piacciono i ragazzi giovani e ne ha dodici  di loro in un harem atipico all'interno della fortezza. Ogni anno ne sceglie un altro per il suo piacere.

Questo anno, durante la solita "fiera dei ragazzi" un uomo si distingue tra gli altri: Lucan è un Purosangue, che discende direttamente dalle persone che sono arrivate sul pianeta con una navetta spaziale. Lucas è bello, la sua pelle è pallisa, dato che la sua gente vive sottoterra, i suoi capelli sono neri e gli occhi chiari, belli e... ciechi.

Ma dichiara di essere li per aiutare il Talkirk e per salvare lui e la sua fortezza. Farà di tutto per convincere il Talkirk, anche dare se stesso per provarlo. E il Talkirk accetta l'offerta e reclama il suo corpo. Ma con il suo corpo, Lucan concede anche il suo cuore.

Questa è una lettura davvero interessante, forse un po' troppo corta. Ho letto un'altro romanzo di Sienna Black, Coyote Rain, e anche in questo caso la trama era interessante ma il romanzo troppo corto. Sarò molto contenta di avere la possibilità di leggere qualcosa di più di Sienna Black, magari un po' più lungo?

Ben è comprensivo, solidale, e un buon ascoltatore. E' anche la cosa più attraente che Dakota abbia visto da molto tempo. Prima che se ne accorgano, Dakota e Ben si stanno trasformando dall'essere nella relazione dottore paziente a qualcosa di molto più interessante, e questo presenta un'intera nuova serie di problemi.

Questi due possono mettere da parte il passato e costruire una nuova vita insieme, una che sia unicamente loro?
