Alcuni eroi da sogno...
translation of comment # 47 (
translation of comment # 47 ( Lalletta )
Going back to my previous comment, I usually dislike when the couple is hugging (not to speak about other positions!) ... This since makes the equivalence romance = sex immediate.
Mr. Griffin, we have often discussed about the way we, romance readers, are judged by other people on the basis of our favourite kind of readings. And often it's the covers which are to blame!
Who does not read romance novels, and therefore do not know their content, draws his conclusions from the covers that can be seen in the bookstands and bookshops...
I often use to say that we're in love with love, with emotions and tenderness... but all that translates in something merely "carnal" in covers. I'm talking about the majority of course - but there are exceptions, even if too seldom for my own taste :)
I hope I'm making myself clear.
For instance, I think that covers with one of the characters looking at the other one who's in the background are beautiful ... when that gaze is full of meanings!
Or if characters can be barely seen in some romantic scenario, so that readers can lurk at them but at the same time are also free to imagine their features.
I love when the heroines are elegant, this suggest serenity and confidence. I love when they are with their back turned or in profile ( once again, this way a face is not imposed ) and the focus is on their hairstyle or on something they have in their air.
At the same time I like dark covers, with only one strong, sharp colour and a single object in sight - a flower, for instance. It's as if the book had its own personality, and had no need to convince you to buy it. It's the same that happened when Matrix the movie was released, an auto-buy product :)
Okay I'm done now, I don't want to bother mr. Griffin any longer and also I don't want to make the bloggers who are translating my comments to start hating me (PS: thanks a lot girls!).
Hugs,
Lalletta
