With 31 moves behind me and having traveled through many more countries, I was anxious to create characters who reflected the amazing cultures and people I’ve met over the years. My years of living in Europe drew me to write in the medieval time frame. After watching the movie Braveheart and with my passion for writing complex plots, I knew I had to write in this volatile medieval timeframe, hence the MacGruder brothers, Seathan, Alexander, Patrik and Duncan, were born.
I have many passions in life, but one that resonates with me is that of giving. I firmly believe that each of us can make a positive difference in another person’s life. With each book I sell, I will tithe ten percent of my royalties to a charity of my choice. The first charity I've chosen is The National Trust for Scotland, which acts as guardian of Scotland’s magnificent heritage of architectural, scenic and historic treasures. Without the National Trust for Scotland, many of Scotland’s historical wonders would be lost.

Dopo aver traslocato 31 volte e viaggiato in molti paesi, ero ansiosa di creare dei personaggi che riflettessero le culture affascinanti dei popoli che avevo incontrato via via negli anni. Gli anni vissuti in Europa mi hanno spinto a scrivere sul medioevo. Dopo aver visto il film Braveheart e poichè ho una passione per le trame complesse, ho capito che dovevo ambientare i miei romanzi in questo periodo storico molto instabile, e così nacquero i fratelli MacGruder, Seathan, Alexander, Patrik e Duncan.
Ho molte passioni nella mia vita, e quella che ha in me una forte risonanza è "dare". Credo fermamente che ognuno di noi possa fare la differenza nella vita di un'altra persona. Con ogni libro che vendo, dedico una percentuale dei miei diritti a  un istituto di beneficenza di mia scelta. La prima scelta è caduta su la National Trust for Scotland, che si occupa di salvaguardare i tesori architettonici, paesaggistici e storici della magnifica eredità Scozzese. Senza la National Trust for Scotland, molte meraviglie della Scozia sarebbero andate perdute.

After "His Captive" Diana Cosby comes back with another novel in the MacGruder Brothers' series. Seathan, earl of Grey, Alexander (first novel's hero) and Duncan, are three scottish warriors who support the rebellion led by William Wallace.

Three years before Duncan was going to wed the woman he loved: Isabel. But a week before the wedding, she left him to become Frasyer's mistress, an earl serving England who heartedly hates Duncan.
Since then, the proud heart-broken scot has been hating her and trying to banish her from his mind, until she is unexpectedly thrown again into his life: after being wounded by Frasyer, Isabel's brother Symon, one of Wallace's rebels, manages in reaching Duncan and with his last breath asks him to free Isabel, now held prisoner in Frasyer's dungeons.
Duncan can't refuse his friend's last will, even if the thought of seeing Isabel again revives pain and anger. He penetrates Frasyer's dungeons, determined to free her and then send her on her way, but as soon as he sees her, alone, afraid and so frail in the dark jail, he realizes the task is not so simple.
In spite of her betrayal and the hate he still feels, Duncan can't suffocate the passion he once felt for that woman, and Isabel, in spite of the lies she told and what she did, has never stopped to love him... and she is willing to do anything to protect him : like she did three years before, when, in order to save his father, Lord Caelin, from prison, she had to accept to jilt Duncan, follow Frasyer to his castle as his mistress, and never say a word about the truth to anyone, or Frasyer would have killed Duncan.

In the escape things get complicated, Duncan is wounded and Isabel can't leave without her mother's Bible, where she hopes to find proof of her father's innocence, since Frasyer has captured him and accused him of threason against England.
Duncan wants answers to his doubts and questions, he can't trust her, but at the same time he can't abandon her in her quest. During the long way home and the searching for the Bible, Duncan can't hold back his strong feeling for her. At last, when they can no more conceal the love they both feel, and trust can't be denied any more, a shocking discovery threatens to divide them forever...

His Woman is an engrossing tale, full of action, which tells about a man and a woman living in a time of deep conflicts. Isabel is the brave and a bit naive heroine, who faces her sad destiny by convincing herself she must protect the man she loves; Duncan is the deeply wounded hero a bit blinded by betrayal, who forces himself to forget the woman he loves... The plot is eventful and rich, even if I found some crucial moment a bit too slowed by the h/h's dialogues and thoughts. There is plenty of escapes in the freezing snow, dangers, suspense, fights, mysteries and even a bit of magic... and at the end, as in the first book, you'll be impressed by a dramatic turn of events, which shuffles the cards of the game as well as the h/h's destiny.
I found the secondary characters very intriguing, especially Seathan, Duncan's older brother, and Griffin, the man whose role is dangerously suspended between Scotland and England.

Dopo His Captive, Diana Cosby ritorna con le vicende dei fratelli MacGruder - Seathan conte di Grey, Alexander (protagonista del romanzo precendente) e Duncan - guerrieri scozzesi che sostengono la ribellione guidata da William Wallace contro gli Inglesi.

Tre anni prima Duncan doveva sposare la donna che amava da sempre: Isabel. Ma ad una settimana dalle nozze, lei lo ha lasciato accettando di diventare l'amante di Frayser, un conte al servizio del re d'Inghilterra che prova per Duncan un odio sviscerato.
Da allora, l'orgoglioso scozzese con il cuore a pezzi, non ha fatto che odiarla e tentare di cancellarla dalla sua mente, fino a quando lei non entra inaspettatamente di nuovo nella sua vita : dopo essere stato ferito da Frayser, Symon, ribelle e fratello di Isabel, riesce a raggiungere Duncan e prima di morire gli chiede di liberare Isabel, tenuta prigioniera da Frayser nelle prigioni del suo castello.
Duncan non può astenersi dall'onorare la promessa fatta a un amico, nonostante il solo pensiero di rivedere Isabel risvegli in lui il dolore e la rabbia. Penetra nelle prigioni di Frayser, deciso a liberarla e poi mandarla per la sua strada, ma non appena la vede, sola, spaventata e fragile nella cella buia, si accorge che la cosa è tuttaltro che semplice.
Nonostante l'odio e il tradimento subito, Duncan non riesce a soffocare il forte sentimento e passione che l'hanno in passato unito a quella donna, ed Isabel, nonostante le bugie e il suo comportamento, al contrario di quanto ha professato, non ha mai smesso di amare Duncan... ed è pronta a tutto pur di proteggerlo: come tre anni prima, quando, per salvare suo padre, Lord Caelin, dalla prigione ha dovuto accettare di lasciare Duncan e di andare a vivere come amante nel castello di Frasyer, con la minaccia che se avesse rivelato la vera ragione di quella decisione, Duncan sarebbe morto.

Durante la fuga le cose si complicano, Duncan viene ferito e Isabel non può andarsene senza prima aver recuperato la Bibbia di sua madre che contiene le prove dell'innocenza del padre, che Frasyer ha catturato e accusato di tradimento. Duncan vuole risposte a dubbi e a domande, non vuole fidarsi di lei, ma non riesce neppure ad accettare l'idea di lasciarla a se stessa, né, durante le incessanti fughe e ricerche, riesce a reprimere il sentimento che prova con sempre maggiore prepotenza. E quando infine sarà impossibile per loro continuare a celarlo, quando l'amore e la fiducia non potranno più essere negati, una nuova, scioccante scoperta minaccerà di dividerli per sempre...

Un racconto appassionante, denso di azione, che come nel primo libro, intreccia le vicende di uomini e donne in un periodo storico di profondi conflitti. Ritroviamo in Isabel la fanciulla coraggiosa e forse un po' ingenua che affronta il suo triste destino e rinuncia all'uomo che ama convinta di proteggerlo, e in Duncan, l'uomo profondamente ferito e anche un po' accecato dal tradimento subito, che si impone di cancellare dalla sua vita la donna che ha amato... La trama è molto movimentata, anche se in alcuni passaggi cruciali il ritmo è a mio avviso rallentato da un eccesso di dialoghi e pensieri. Ci sono fughe nella neve gelida, pericoli, momenti di tensione, combattimenti, misteri e anche un po' di magia... E non manca nella parte finale del romanzo un eccellente colpo di scena, che rimescola le carte in gioco e con loro il destino dei protagonisti.
Molto intriganti i personaggi secondari, in special modo Seathan, il fratello maggiore di Duncan, e Griffin, l'uomo il cui doppio ruolo lo pone pericolosamente tra Scozia e Inghilterra.
Spero di leggere presto le loro storie :-)

Duncan tilted his head and appraised her with eyes that held a combination of ice and heat. "I was thinking you are the most beautiful lass I have ever seen." As Isabel caught her breath, he added, harsher, "and the most deceitful." He stepped toward her. "I have waited for the truth, Isabel, a truth I will have this night."
She held his gaze. "Any lie I have made had a purpose."
"Purpose?" His face darkened with anger, his body cast in the outlines of flames at his back adding to the ominous image. He strode to her and caught her face between his hands. "Hear me, Isabel," he said between gritted teeth. "Tonight, you will tell me everything."
"It is not so simple," she whispered. Frasyer's threats to kill Duncan if she broke her vow of silence of their arrangement clattered in her mind, more so of the twisted ways the earl would seek vengeance.
"Nothing of importance is."
Panic swirled inside her. She could not allow harm to come to Duncan, but neither could she lie to him further. Already, too many mistruths had passed her lips, but she'd given them to save Duncan.
Except he would not see it as that.
And he would hate her.
When she loved him with her every breath.
Wanted him as no other man.
"Isabel!"
His harsh voice unnerved her further, but she held her ground. "I will tell you what you want to know, but first," her voice trembled but she reached her hand over to cover his, "can we not share this one night?"

Duncan piegò il capo e la valutò con occhi che contenevano una combinazione di ghiaccio e fuoco. "Stavo pensando che sei la più bella ragazza che io abbia mai visto" Mentre Isabel tratteneva il fiato, egli aggiunse, aspro, "e la più falsa." Si mosse verso di lei. "Ho aspettato la verità, Isabel, una verità che avrò questa notte."
Lei sostenne il suo sguardo. "Qualsiasi bugia abbia detto aveva uno scopo."
"Uno scopo?" la sua faccia si scurì d'ira, resa ancor più minacciosa dall'immagine del suo corpo stagliato contro le fiamme che ardevano dietro di lui. La raggiunse e le prese il viso tra le mani. "Acoltami bene, Isabel," disse tra i denti. "Questa notte mi dirai tutto."
"Non è così semplice." bisbigliò lei. La minaccia di Frasyer di uccidere Duncan se mai avesse rotto il voto di silenzio sul loro accordo gridava nella sua mente, e ancor di più il modo contorto in cui il conte avrebbe cercato vendetta.
"Nulla che sia importante lo è."
Il panico la travolse. Non poteva permettere che venisse fatto del male a Duncan, ma non poteva nemmeno continuare a mentirgli. Troppe menzogne erano già uscite dalle sue labbra, ma le aveva dette per salvare Duncan.
Solo che lui non le avrebbe viste per ciò che erano realmente.
E l'avrebbe odiata.
Mentre lei lo amava con ogni suo respiro.
Lo voleva come nessun altro uomo.
"Isabel!"
Il tono aspro la rese ancora più nervosa, ma mantenne la sua posizione. "Ti dirò quello che vuoi sapere, ma prima," la sua voce tremò, ma sollevò la mano per coprire quella di lui, "non potremmo passare quest'unica notte insieme?"
