All avid readers have one common problem: what to do with old books? How to get rid of them to make room for new books?
Today Internet provides several ways to do that – for free, of course. Many of us bloggers know them and use them regularly. In this series of articles we’ll describe you these systems, hoping you might find one or more of them suitable to your needs.

If you often experience this situation, Bookmooch might be the perfect solution to your problem.
Bookmooch ( http://it.bookmooch.com/ ) is a website where you can list the books you no longer want and find new books to read.

Bookmooch uses an ingenious “points” system. Each time you add a book to your inventory you win 0.1 point and every time you send a book out you win 1 point if it's to your country or 3 point if it's to a foreign country.
Whenever you want to request a book you have to give 1 point if it's from a moocher in your country or 2 points if it's from abroad. Easy isn't it? To start getting books just add 10 books you want to get rid of and you'll be able to mooch a book that it's available in your country.

Bookmooch utilizza un ingegnoso sistema a “punti”. Per ogni libro caricato nell’elenco, guadagnate 0.1 punti. Ogni volta che spedite un vostro libro a qualcuno, guadagnate 1 punto se è qualcuno che vive nel vostro paese, cioè l’Italia, oppure 3 punti se vive all’estero.
Quando volete chiedere un libro a qualcuno, dovete spendere 1 punto se lo chiedete a qualcuno che sta nel vostro paese, oppure 2 se è qualcuno che vive all’estero. Facile, no? Per iniziare a procurarsi dei libri, basta che vi registriate, facciate una lista 10 libri di cui volete sbarazzarvi, e avrete già guadagnato 1 punto, che potete usare subito per chiedere a qualcuno che sta nel vostro paese di mandarvi uno dei suoi libri.

For me Bookmooch is a very helpful site in two different ways. It's a way to get rid of books I no longer want and it's also a way to get new ones without the problems of trading one on one where if you have to find something interesting in the other trader's list or vice versa. With Bookmooch your books are available to thousands of people and each time you send one out you get points to mooch some of the many books available from all over the globe. On the other hand it allows me to have an updated wishlist always available online with alerts each time one of them is available. The wish list alerts are not sent to everyone at the same time but one every 4 hours to a different person.

Secondo me Bookmooch è un sito molto utile sotto due aspetti. E’ un modo per sbarazzarmi dei libri che non mi interessa tenere, ed è anche un modo di procurarmi nuovi libri senza il problema che c’è spesso negli scambi con le altre persone, cioè di trovare qualcosa che mi interessi nella loro lista. Con Bookmooch i vostri libri sono a disposizione di migliaia di persone e ogni volta che ne spedite uno, guadagnate dei punti che potete usare in seguito per richiedere uno qualsiasi dei tanti libri sparsi in giro per il mondo. D’altra parte, Bookmooch mi permette di creare una “lista dei desideri” (wishlist) sempre disponibile on-line, che mi avverte con un messaggio ogni volta che uno dei libri che cerco è disponibile. I messaggi non vengono mandati a tutti quanti contemporaneamente, ma ogni 4 ore ne viene mandato uno a una persona diversa.

If you're worried about spending too much money for mailing books you can set your account in 3 different ways: Worldwide, Ask First (so you can check shipping amounts before accepting) and Only to My Country where your books will only be requested (or mooched) by other members in your country.

Se vi state preoccupando perché avete paura di spendere troppo per le spedizioni dei libri, tenete presente che potete impostare il vostro account in tre modi diversi: Spedizioni in tutto il mondo, Chiedere prima ( così prima di accettare una richiesta di spedizione, potete verificare quanto vi costerà ), La Mia Nazione specificando che i libri possono essere spediti soltanto nella vostra nazione cioè in Italia.
