Excellent question! I was only 21 when I started writing my first book (LADY OF CONQUEST). I sat down at my mother's kitchen counter and started writing the book I wanted to read--passionate, romantic, with a lot of adventure and a very strong warrior woman heroine.

"I'd also like to know the worst book she ever read, and the one she'd never write."

I have to quote one of my teachers here: There's no such thing as a bad book. Some books are just better than others :)

And I would never write a book where the dog or the cat died or where the hero and heroine didn't find a happy ending in each other's arms.
