Dear Chris, (comment
Dear Chris, (comment #45)
Thank you so much for your very kind words. As I told Lucia, it's knowing that I touch people like you that makes writing worthwhile.
I totally agree: Women today are still raised to be wives and mothers. Period. We are taught it is wrong to put ourselves above men. My mother and I have this ongoing argument. Recently I found a new doctor, who happens to be a woman. My mom immediately says, "I don't like women doctors." I go, "Why not, Mom?" "I don't know, I just don't." "You don't think women can be as smart as men?" I ask her. There is this tell-tell silence. I quick look at her face (I'm driving) and ask: "You don't think I'm intelligent, Mom?" Reluctantly, she says, "Of course, you are." But I could clearly tell that she didn't think a woman - even her daughter - could be as intelligent as a man. Sadly, I think there are a lot of people who still think like that, both men and women. However, I think slowly but surely the superstition is being routed everywhere in the world. In some countries more slowly than others, alas.
Thank you so much for your comments, Chris.
Best wishes,
Robin Schone
P.S.
I'm not courageous, not really, I'm just a woman who believes in women, and that true love can never flourish until there is equality between the sexes. I'm very, very fortunate to have a lifemate - my husband - who also believes in women, and in me, particularly.
