What a beautiful inteview. Unfortunately I haven't read any of your books but I hope they will be translated in Italian so that I could read them. The plot seem very intriguing.

I have few questions for you:

1) Did your husband read your books? And waht does he think about them?

2) all your studies in the erotic fields, do you put them in practice with your husband? Or do they simply remain a pleasant fantasy?

Thanks for answering and please forgive me for being so daring!

Grazie! I’m so glad you like our interview! Didn’t Maet ask some wonderful questions? I, too, hope my books will be translated into Italian. I love sharing my books with readers. And you are not being daring at all! I really appreciate your questions.

DID YOUR HUSBAND READ YOUR BOOKS?

Don has not read all of them, but he has read a lot. If it were not for him, I honestly don’t know if I would have had the courage to write. Because while I have always written, I just couldn’t make myself sit down and write a book. Poems, yes. Short stories, yes. But wow, 100,000 words are a lot of words to string together. When I was 24? (I think I was 24) I had to go into the hospital. I was so bored, that I started writing a story that had been in my mind since I was a teenager. When Don read it, he was so encouraging. He said I made him see the words. He says that to this day! But he talked about those two chapters all the time. Finally, I had the time and opportunity to write the book, which will never see the light of day because I made every mistake a writer can possibly make!

When I told him I was going to write a romance, he wouldn’t talk about my writing for seven months. He didn’t think I would be able to carry my writing style over into romance. Well, I finished it. And he read it. During Super Bowl Football!! He loved it, although at one point he said, “Jesus Christ, Robin, you’ve made Charles bigger than Long Dong Silver!” *laughing* Okay, I trimmed Charles off a little. A little more reality and less fantasy. He boasts that he is my biggest fan, and my worst critic. And boy, can he be a tough critic! But he can also be very astute. When he read my first novella “A Lady’s Pleasure,” his response was, “Yeah, it’s good.” But I could sense he didn’t really like it. When I kept pushing him, he said, “I don’t feel anything for the characters, Robin.” Whoa. That was when I realized that I had been writing my heroes as if they were created solely to satisfy my heroines. I redid my novella: Now it is Don’s favorite. He loves Robert, my wounded soldier. Because of that insightful observation, I was able to create Ramiel, and Michael, and Gabriel, and James, and Jack. . . .

ALL YOUR STUDIES IN THE EROTIC FIELDS, DO YOU PUT THEM IN PRACTICE WITH YOUR HUSBAND? OR DO THEY SIMPLY REMAIN A PLEASANT FANTASY?

Let me just say: Don demanded I create a t-shirt for him that says, “Robin Schone’s Official Love Test Dummy.” He wears it proudly!

Baci,

ROBIN SCHONE
