Thank you for your interest in the books! I enjoy Ward and Feehan and Medeiros too.

I hope you enjoy Victoria's adventures. And as you ask, how do I keep her as a strong character, while maintaining her reality as a historical character?

That is what makes these books so fun to write. Victoria does indeed have special powers--strength, speed, etc.,--like a superhero, but she's also bound to keep her role secret. Thus she has to balance both sides of her life. And it can be amusing how she tries to keep the secret from the man she falls for, while going out and hunting vampires at night.

She is very much, at the beginning, a product of Regency England--she believes her role is to marry well and be polite in society. But as the book goes on, she begins to realize how much freedom her abilities give her--and also how restricted she is. And that makes her different. She makes mistakes, yes indeed...and with each book, she grows. (I don't mean to tease about the next books; I'm sure that they will be released in Italy).

So, yes, she does think a little differently than other women in her age and time--but there are always women (and men) in history who think differently than their peers. That's how new ideas are promoted, and how women got to be able to vote, etc.

I hope this makes sense. Victoria starts out as a regular Regency miss, but she grows and changes as befits her role as a vampire hunter.

Spero che amerai le avventure di Victoria. E come chiedi, come faccio a renderla un personaggio forte, e nello stesso renderla veritiera come personaggio storico?

Questo è quello che rende questi libri così divertenti da scrivere. Victoria ha in effetti poteri speciali - forza, velocità, ecc - come un supereroe, ma ha giurato di tenere il suo ruolo segreto. In questo modo deve bilanciare entrambi gli aspetti della sua vita. E può essere divertente leggere come cerca di tenere il segreto dall'uomo di cui si innamora, mentre esce a dare la caccia ai vampiri di notte.

Lei all'inizio è un prodotto dell'Inghilterra dell'epoca della Reggenza - crede che il suo dovere sia di sposarsi bene e di essere educata in società. Ma mentre il libro continua, lei incomincia a capire quanta libertà le danno le sue capacità - ed anche quanto limitata era prima. E questo la rende diversa. Fa errori, si davvero... e con ogni libro, cresce. (Non voglio tentarti inutilmente con i prossimi libri; sono sicura che usciranno anche in Italia).

Così, si, lei la pensa in modo un poco diverso dalle altre donne della sua età ed epoca - ma ci sono sempre state donne (e uomini) nella storia che hanno pensato in modo diverso dai propri pari. Così è come sono nate le nuove idee, e come le donne hanno ottenuto il diritto al voto, ecc.

Spero che questo abbia un senso. Victoria incomincia come un normale signorina dell'epoca della Reggenza, ma cresce e cambia mentre trae beneficio dal suo ruolo di cacciatrice di vampiri.
