I agree with you that the vampire is the total alpha male and a predator. It is that danger and power that attracts people to the genre. I like to have my vampires struggle with using their power humanely and it is that struggle that appeals to many people. I think the vampire genre is about a lot of psychological elements as well as sensual ones. I hope that one day you will try a vampire book!
