An epic conclusion to an ageless saga...

After two books that patiently have prepared us to this third, we can read the final enstallment of this saga: Scarlet, the poor and simple hilurin pedlar, has became Keriss kir Nazheradei, the twice beloved, the t’aishka of Liall, prince Nazir.

Liall the White Wolf, is the eldest living son of the realm of Rshan and his mother, the queen, wants him to help his little brother Cestimir to become King. But the court is like all the courts, vicious and lethal, and Liall keeps to many secrets with Scarlet. He fears that his little Scarlet, his honest pedlar, will leave him if he would know the true of his life.

So Liall cages Scarlett in a gold prison, but a prison is always a prison, and Scarlett is young and restless. And then Scarlet has secrets of his own.

Liall is older and experienced, but not in matter of love. He judges himself not worthy of Scarlet's love, so he prefers to hide in the shadows of the court and to keep Scarlet in the darkness of ignorance. The dark of the winter suites well the dark of the court.

Also scarlet is insecure of Liall's love and all the unsaid words around him prevent him to find a place in the court.

Liall and Scarlet are two imperfect characters, in their lacks lays their strenght. This is not a "classical" romance, I consider it more a shakespearean drama. And I love a good shakespearean drama...

Un'epica conclusione ad una saga senza età...

Dopo due libri che ci hanno pazientemente preparati a questo terzo, possiamo leggere il capito finale di questa saga: Scarlet, il povero e semplice venditore ambulante del popolo Hilurin, è diventato Keriss kir Nazheradei, il doppiamente amato, il t'aishka di Liall, principe Nazir.

Liall il Lupo Bianco, è il più vecchio figlio in vita del regno di Rshan e sua madre, la regina, vuole che lui aiuti il giovane fratello Cestimir a diventare Re. Ma la corte è come tutte le corti, malvagia e letale, e Liall ha troppi segreti per Scarlet. Teme che il suo piccolo Scarlet, il suo onesto venditore ambulante, lo lascerebbe se venisse a conoscenza della verità sulla sua vita.

Così Liall rinchiude Scarlet in una prigione dorata, ma una prigione è sempre una prigione, e Scarlet è giovane e inquieto. E poi anche Scarlet ha dei segreti.

Liall è più vecchio e con esperienza, ma non in materia d'amore. Si giudica non degno dell'amore di Scarlet, così preferisce nascondersi nelle ombre della corte e tenere Scarlet nell'oscurità dell'ignoranza. Le tenebre dell'inverno si adattano bene alle tenebre della corte.

Anche Scarlet è insicuro dell'amore di Liall e tutte le parole non dette intorno a lui gli impediscono di trovare un posto nella corte.

Liall e Scarlet sono due personaggi imperfetti, e nelle loro mancanze risiede la loro forza. Questo non è un romance "classico", lo considero più un dramma shakespeariano. E io amo un buon dramma shakespeariano...
